During the meeting, he directed the senior officials to personally visit the sites to take stock of the progress of the projects and file report on it within three months, the source added.

In line with the direction, Tourism Ministry Secretary Vinod Zutshi will leave for a three-day visit to review the progress of Ramayana and Buddhist circuit in Uttar Pradesh, according to the source.

Besides meeting UP Tourism officials, Zutshi will also visit Ayodhya and Shravasti – a Buddhist sacred place – which will be developed under Buddhist circuit, the source said.

Other officials would also under take similar visits in the next few days to other sites in the state where tourism projects are currently going on, he added.

As part of efforts to fast track various tourism projects in UP, Tourism Ministry recently formed two national committees to advise the government on development of those places in the state as religious tourism destinations which fall in Ramayana and Krishna Circuits.

It is believed that Tourism Ministry is preparing its report card on various projects in Uttar Pradesh so that these could be highlighted during the campaign for the elections.
