Get ready to satisfy your inner Top Gun fighter pilot as you take off on one of three Sky Combat Ace experiences. Each option gives you a different experience, but they all include aerial acrobatics thrills, safety instruction, an in-plane instructor and access to the Sky Combat Ace museum. You will be flying an Extra 330LC (closed cockpit), which reaches a maximum speed of 253 mph and a cruising speed of 196 mph.
After Burner: The perfect experience for someone who wants to leave the piloting to the experts. An instructor will doing flying as they take you through a 15- to 20-minute thrill ride packed with spins, rolls, loops as well as advanced air show routines (hammerheads and tumbling) in an aerial roller coaster ride. This flight pulls up to 8Gs.
Top Gun: This is your chance to take the yoke and fly the plane. An instructor will be in the second seat available to help you at any time. After your aerobatic briefing, you’ll have a 25- to 30-minute thrill ride, but this time it’ll be you executing those aerobatics. You’ll also get the chance to do a simulated bomb run. Prove that you are the next Top Gun. This flight pulls up to 8Gs.
Sky Combat Experience: Now it’s time to go head-to-head against another pilot in a dog-fighting experience. Once again you are flying the plane, but this time there is an expert combat fighter pilot in the second seat. You will be be competing against another opponent, either a friend in another plane or one of the other instructors. There will be 30 minutes of aerial dog fighting, up to five combat flights. You will use an optical targeting system to take your opponent out and smoke will mark when you get a hit.
Operation Recon: For those who have limited time or just want a taste of what the Extra 330LC can do, this is a great introduction to high performance aircrafts. This experience includes taxi, takeoff, a few aerobatic maneuvers and approximately a 12 minute low-level flight over the beautiful mountains and valleys of the Mojave desert, before your return trip home with the Las Vegas skyline as a backdrop.
