IHG launches Planet Trekkers app for children

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has launched the Planet Trekkers mobile app, designed for children to learn about and explore their travel destination

IHG appInterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has launched the Planet Trekkers mobile app, designed for children to learn about and explore their travel destination. To celebrate the launch of the app, IHG has appealed to children from all over the world to compile the ‘Top 50 Travel List’ to experience, based travel adventures.

From the reams of experiences submitted by young adventurers across the globe, a list of ‘Top 50 Experiences’ has been created, Based on individual cities around the world cultures and atmospheres.

The top 50 list includes:

Standing in two countries at the same timeWalking over an inactive volcanoFloating in a lagoonCrossing the equatorLearning to cook a native dishBartering in a grand market

Simon Scoot, vice president, global brands, IHG said, “The InterContinental brand is dedicated to providing enriching and authentic experiences to our guests. The launch of the new Planet Trekkers app helps us do this. It allows families to discover the world together in a unique and an interactive way, whereby even the youngest of travellers can cultivate a deeper understanding of the world around them.”

The app is based on a treasure hunt-style game and challenges children to discover indigenous wildlife, take part in local adventures, and taste native dishes. The allows children to learn about adventures within four categories – Natural Discoveries; Active Pursuits; Local Culture and New Flavours. The app also allows children to upload photos and details from their adventures. The app is part of the Planet Trekkers family programme, a club of tailored services, cuisine and activities that are specifically created for families. The Planet Trekkers app is available to download free of charge for iOS platform.
