Some pull out all the stops, offering special services like walking, grooming and even gourmet room-service menus- check with each hotel about any extra fees or weight restrictions involved. Here’s a list of top 10 pet-friendly hotels in NYC.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Metropolitan

Near many of Manhattan’s east-side attractions, this recently revitalised hotel sports art-deco features from original architect Morris Lapidus—and welcomes both pooches and feline friends. Stay here and you and your pet will be a short walk from Park Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, the United Nations and Rockefeller Center. Each of the 764 guest rooms has been newly renovated, and the hotel features other amenities, including 24-hour fitness and business centers, plus the Met Grill and the Met Bar. One can also book the hotel’s ‘Pampered Pet Package’ and recieve an animal-print gift bag, which includes a fleece blanket, travel bowl and pet collar.

Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC

The Gansevoort is just as stylish a hangout for pets as for their owners. Upon arriving, your furry friend gets a collar tag, treats, a bed and a monogrammed mat. The hotel’s 163 rooms and 23 suites come in six sizes, starting at a standard queen and working up to the two-floor penthouse suite. The rooftop, which has excellent views of Lower Manhattan, features a 45-foot-long pool and bar. The new Whitney Museum, the High Line and Chelsea galleries are a short distance away.

Hyatt Union Square New York

As the name suggests, this new Hyatt location is just blocks from the tree-shaded hangout of Union Square, perfect for people- and pup-watching (it has a busy dog run and four-day-a-week farmers’ market). Room sizes range from studios to suites; the hotel welcomes pets with special beds, organic treats and bowls for food. The proprietors of acclaimed nearby restaurants Tocqueville and 15 East helm the hotel’s American brasserie, the Fourth, as well as its cafГ©, and there is an on-premises spa and gym.

Loews Regency New York

This luxe hotel near Central Park extends its pet-friendly programme, Loews Loves Pets, to a special room-service menu for both cats and dogs, prepared by the hotel’s executive chef. Other amenities include pet beds and treats, maps of good dog-walking routes and—good for when you need a little break—pet-sitting and -walking services. The Loews Regency is a short hop from MoMA and Museum Mile, but you still might want to take advantage of the hotel’s Mercedes town car, which will drive you anywhere within a 20-block radius.

Mandarin Oriental, New York

Perched at the very top of the Time Warner Center, the Mandarin Oriental offers sweeping Central Park views and lofty accommodations for your pet. Each four-legged companion gets a gold tag modeled on the hotel’s fan-shaped logo, and treats, toys, a bed and a special (on request) room-service menu await. There are 244 rooms and suites, and you can specify a view of the Hudson River, Central Park or Midtown skyline. While at the hotel, guests can enjoy Asiate restaurant or the renowned spa, which has an amethyst crystal steam room and Thai yoga room with ‘deep soaking tub’.

The Muse Hotel

At this Kimpton boutique hotel, outfitted in funky monochromatic decor that references Greek mythology, pets can stay with you with no restriction on size or number. Bowls, a bed and a leash are provided, and the concierge can arrange for pet sitting, grooming and even massage and acupuncture. If your pet’s pampering makes you envious, worry not: the hotel offers in-room spa services for guests, including organic body wraps, massages and facials.

Renaissance New York Times Square

Who says Times Square isn’t the place for a pup? At this hotel smack in the middle of the action, pets are welcome guests. Amenities include a plush pet bed, bowls and a treat. The 26-story hotel has eight types of rooms; you can select a high floor or ‘city view’ room with a gorgeous vista of the neon bustle below so you can preview your expedition to the Square or to Broadway theaters.

The Towers at the Waldorf Astoria New York

This gilded hotel has a gleaming facade and lobby you’ll recognise from countless movies and television shows; now you can pose your pet in the art deco backdrop for The Godfather: Part III and The Great Gatsby(the Mia Farrow–Robert Redford version). The hotel welcomes pets, and a variety of luxury rooms, suites and residential apartments are available. Your animal’s comfort is assured, with amenities like pet beds and bowls, a complimentary walk, and concierge services to help you shop for Fluffy- or even book a spa treatment for her. That’s to say nothing about the Canine Culinary room service menu, featuring pet-friendly dishes like German Shepherd’s Pie and Pekingese’s Duck (puns intended).

W New York – Downtown

The W goes all out for the four legged with its PAW (Pets Are Welcome) programme. Amenities include a welcome kit with a W Hotels tag, toys, treats and a bed- all the way up to vet and grooming services, walking and dog sitting, and even a birthday cake if the special day is near. Other hotel features include the BLT Bar & Grill, which serves American fare, and the terraced cocktail bar, offering views of the downtown Manhattan skyline including One World Trade Center. The hotel is near some of the City’s most notable attractions, including the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Wall Street and South Street Seaport.
